Welcome!

Hi Everyone!

I am really excited to be writing a blog as it helps me to get my thoughts down on 'paper'. I know this blog is going to be all over the place...a blog about the rabbitry here and perhaps a blog about my dog rescue there. Ya'll are definitely in for a treat. ;)

A little bit about Victory Lane Rabbitry for those who don't know much: We are a very small rabbitry at less than 10 holes, we currently have 8. I am concentrating on Jersey Woolies in the Otter Variety but have recently taken on the huge task of working with Tri Colored American Fuzzy Lops. We started with Cavies (guines pigs) in early 2008 and then switched to the wonderful world of rabbits early 2009.

We started out with one Flemsih and one French Lop...soon we decided those breeds were too big for us to handle. We tried out the English Lop with the same results. To the dismay of my 'macho' husband, I bought a BEW Holland Lop. I was sold! After much searching and zero luck to find quality BEWs, I moved onto Sable Points, and finally settled onto Tri's.

For anyone involved (or ever involved) with Holland Lops, you know that the competition is fierce. They are the most worked on breed and prices for a decent buck can range from $50 to $300. It's a tough tough world in Hollands. Needless to say, I couldn't hang. I tried so so hard but people were not very friendly, stab you in your back and sell you crap advertised as 'nice show quality'. As a new breeder trying her darnest to learn, it was very discouraging.

Now, that being said, there are good and bad breeders in every breed...the Holland people are just a tad more territorial. ;) I have finally found my heart breed thanks to some WONDERFUL people who I can't thank enough....the Jersey Wooly! They are cute, sweet and fluffy all rolled into a 3lb (ish) package. What more could you ask for? And as far as the Tri Colored AFLs? Well, I like to think of them as my Holland Lop fix but without all the crazyness attached.
